  • Principal Investigator

    Dhruv Seshadri received his B.S. in polymers science and engineering in 2014, M.S., and PhD degrees in biomedical engineering in 2018 and 2022 respectively from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. His research involves the development, validation, and translation of wearable technology, bioelectronic devices, and digital therapeutics targeting human health and performance. This research has been disseminated in journals such as Npj Digital Medicine, Circulation, Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, and IEEE and reported in news outlets such as CNN, Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Fortune, Wired UK, and Nature Outlook. Dhruv has received grants from the Department of Defense, Northwestern University, National Science Foundation, and American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine for developing, translating, and commercializing wearable technology.

    My name is Anthony Cino! I originally got my bachelor's degree in Biology from DeSales University and am now pursuing my master's degree in Bioengineering at Lehigh University. In the future, I would like to work in the industry field for a medical device manufacturing company. Upon entering Dr. Seshadri's lab, I would like to broaden my laboratory hands-on skills and develop new projects utilizing wearable devices that can later be presented and published. My favorite sport is ice hockey, which I would be really interested in incorporating into one of my upcoming projects. I am very excited for this new opportunity!

    Joseph earned his undergraduate degree in Bioengineering at Lehigh University. Throughout his undergraduate career, he explored various research interests. He pursued independent research under Dr. Berdichevsky on an automated cell counting program and investigated, under Dr. Perry, the effects of graphene oxide on L6 Myoblast proliferation in a hydrogel scaffold. Joseph was able to learn industry skills through two internships in both the pharmaceutical and medical device industries. As an incoming PhD student at Lehigh University, Joe wishes to expand his knowledge in various subfields within bioengineering and also have a lasting impact. Outside of the lab, Joe likes to spend time with friends and family, watches movies and television, and loves traveling. He also enjoys watching/playing soccer and competes in powerlifting.

    I am a junior majoring in mathematics. I am interested in graduate school, pursuing a PHD in mathematics and more research in the bioengineering field. Growing up a year round athlete, I have strong interest in athletic performance and recovery. I am involved in the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers. I have a passion for bodybuilding, nutrition, and strength training. I enjoy watching and researching soccer and football, finding a strong interest in optimization and statistics in sports.

    Tony is an incoming masters student and a recent graduate of Lehigh University's Bioengineering program. He is interested in bioelectronics and biosensor technology for the purposes of imaging and diagnosing. Outside of the lab, he enjoys skateboarding, spending time with friends, and hanging out with his dog, Apollo.

    Dina Gofman is a junior in the IDEAS program. Through this program, she is studying Bioengineering and Product Design. She is interested in medical device design, disease research, implants, and learning more about electronics. On campus, she is the Vice President of the Biomedical Engineering Society which aims to expose undergraduate students to research and professional opportunities in bioengineering. In her free time, Dina likes to draw, hike, and travel.

    Dani Schmoyer is a junior at Lehigh University pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Bioengineering with a focus on biomechanics and biomaterials. In addition, she is pursuing a minor in computer science. She is interested in devices that integrate electronics with the purpose of diagnosing and treating illnesses and diseases, as well as prosthetics and implants. Dani is also considering a master's degree in biomedical engineering. Currently, she is the vice president of Lehigh’s Enable Club, which designs and produces low-cost, 3D-printed, upper-limb prosthetics for those in need. Dani is also a Rossin Junior Fellow and a member of the Lehigh Women’s Club Soccer team.

    My name is Milad Zarrinfar, and I am a sophomore here at Lehigh. I am currently undecided, but I am on the pre-med track here at Lehigh. I am currently in the LUAMSA Club and the Pre-Dental society, so I have a lot of interest in the biological sciences. I am also a former dual sport athlete, because I played both soccer and basketball, so I am very interested in being able to research and work in the sports medicine field. Additionally, I also dealt with an acl injury myself, so I believe I can provide experience in the area of recovery and rehabilitation with athletes. Outside of school, I love to play sports and travel with friends and family.

    Colin Panchelli is a junior at Lehigh University pursuing a Bachelor's of Science in Chemistry with a focus in materials. He is interested in pursuing medical school in the future and researching medical devices with the goal of improving patient outcomes in varying settings. Previously, he worked with Dr. Crystal Chu researching dynamic polymer networks and fibrous biomaterials from extensible gels. Colin serves as a volunteer EMT on Lehigh's campus and in Chester County, Pennsylvania, providing emergency care to different populations. His hobbies include playing guitar and watching baseball.

    Jack is a junior majoring in pharmaceutical chemistry with a minor in philosophy, and plans on attending dental school after graduation. He previously worked with biomimetic polymer fibers and hydrogels, and is excited to explore a more translational field of research. Outside of the classroom, Jack is a part of the men’s swim & dive team and enjoys cooking and lifting.

    My name is Jeff Wang and I am a sophomore at Lehigh University majoring in Population Health and on the pre-medical track. I have taken courses such as general chemistry and biology, and am in LUAMSA club, so I have knowledge in science and involvement in pre-health. I have recently worked as a scribe at a doctor’s office and was a volunteer at my local hospital with the opportunity to write doctor’s notes and help transport patients. I intend on going to medical school after graduation to follow my passion in medicine.

    Simone Lawrie is a junior at Lehigh University studying Bioengineering on the Electronics and Photonics Track. She discovered her passion for research when she studied neurodegenerative diseases and learned the theoretical and practical aspects of stem cell culturing in Copenhagen through DIS Study Abroad. Additionally, she has spent the past two summers as a teaching assistant for Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth for both electrical engineering and biomedical science courses. In her future career, she hopes to travel more and make an impact on the medical field

By participating in this lab, he wishes to delve deeper into the realm of medical devices and expand his experience in undergraduate research. I'm a lifelong sports fan, having played softball for years, and I currently manage the Women's Basketball team here at Lehigh! I'm excited to combine both my sports background and analytical knowledge to make a meaningful impact!

    I am Maryam Forouzesh, holding a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Alzahra University. In my academic journey, I have been purposeful in exploring diverse areas to discern my true passion. I've actively sought diverse experiences, firmly believing that hands-on projects are the best way to learn. I've been involved in various initiatives, including the design and implementation of a digital stethoscope, and research and development for a digital blood pressure device. I am interested in wearable sensors, medical devices, and disease prediction. As I prepare to start my Ph.D. journey, my focus is on expanding my knowledge in implementing wearable devices and sensors, with a keen interest in remote patient monitoring for improved healthcare outcomes and risk prevention. Additionally, I have a strong belief that Seshadri's research lab will be a hub for innovative and groundbreaking studies. Beyond scientific pursuits, playing the piano is one of my cherished hobbies, and I also find joy in activities like hiking, volleyball, and skating.

    My name is Ian Chang, and I am a junior attending St. Paul’s School. This summer, I am joining Dr. Seshadri’s lab to widen my knowledge of laboratory skills and pursue my passion for computer science and robotics. With a strong athletic background, I am excited to be able to partake in Dr. Seshadri’s research in sports medicine. I enjoy wrestling, running, and spending time with friends.

    I completed my undergraduate studies in Nigeria where I studied Veterinary Medicine with a concentration in hematology. My master's in Veterinary Surgery concentrates on the responsiveness of Acute Phase Proteins and Hormones in wound healing in the presence of Polymers and the response of Cells to healing. I am a first year PhD Bioengineering Student at Lehigh University with interests in Biomaterials and Devices for wound healing.
